Ecorunning
The Ecorunning race is a discipline putting together outdoor sport activities in any natural environment, the movement on grounds with different difficulties to overtake and the study of environment, flora and fauna, in order to practice a sport and get to know the environment where these activities take place.
With the project “L’ambiente è divertimento” (Environment as enjoyment), drawn up by Po Delta Park Emilia-Romagna in the field of the project LIFE Ambiente SelfPAs – Self-financing Protected Areas, and with the cooperation of the Vesuvio National Park and the Alcantara River Park, the idea is to organize (on 1st May, the “slow” day par excellence) a race on knowledge and ecology in the protected area of Bosco della Mesola, especially opened to the public: a first step towards a better health for man and the ecosystem.
Participants will build survival means and instruments. They will be given binoculars, compasses, cameras, files and, as modern “Robinson Crusoes”, they will live their challenge in a protected area which is exceptionally usable thanks to Po Delta Park Emilia-Romagna in cooperation with National Corps of Foresters and the technical experience of the Ecosportive movement “Sportchallengers”.
Usually the winners are the fastest, but in this particular race, combining the athletic performance with the study of the environment and taking place in protected areas, winners will be those who can see the environmental wealth of the territory, and finish the track in a slow way, too.
The race lasts about 3 hours (8.00 am to 11.00 am), winding inside the Boscone della Mesola, from Taglio della Falce to the gate “Goara”, in an area of the wood which is usually closed to the public, and ending at the main entrance.
Meeting at 8.00 am at Taglio della Falce – against payment. For infos and inscriptions, Po Delta Park Emilia-Romagna, tel. 0039 0533 314003 – 0039 347 8973798.
