At
a birdwatching fair, a lady from Africa asked me
how we translate the word birdwatching into Italian.
The literal translation would be "osservare
gli uccelli" (to watch birds), but birdwatching
means much more than that.
It means that one day you might decide to take a
walk in the countryside, or, as is the case in our
region, among the wetlands and along the ditches
and suddenly you realise that there is an entirely
new world you can discover. It means learning to
look for and identify shapes hidden in reedbeds,
birds flying in the sky or diving in search of food.
It means learning to listen to sounds and recognise
the singing of birds. It means trying to identify
a bird flying or roosting on a nest. It means experiencing
nature! Follow us
